By using Buddy, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you're under 18, your parent or guardian must also agree to these terms on your behalf.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Buddy. Users under 18 require parental/guardian consent and must provide a guardian email address.

3. What Buddy Is (and Isn't)

Buddy is:

  • An AI companion for social-emotional support
  • A tool to help you navigate friendships and relationships
  • A safe space to talk about feelings

Buddy is NOT:

  • A replacement for professional therapy or medical care
  • Emergency crisis response (call 911 for emergencies)
  • A licensed therapist, counselor, or medical professional

4. Crisis Situations

If you're in immediate danger, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. Buddy monitors conversations for crisis keywords and will alert your guardian (if under 18) and provide crisis resources. This is not a guarantee of safety—always seek professional help for serious concerns.

5. User Conduct

You agree NOT to:

  • Use Buddy to harm yourself or others
  • Share explicit, illegal, or harmful content
  • Attempt to manipulate or abuse the AI system
  • Share your account with others
  • Violate any applicable laws

6. Guardian Alerts

For users under 18, we may send automated alerts to your designated guardian if our AI detects potential crisis situations. By using Buddy, you consent to this safety feature.

7. Privacy

Your privacy is important. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your data.

8. Intellectual Property

Buddy and its content are owned by Buddy AI. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our service without permission.

9. Disclaimers

Buddy is provided "as is" without warranties. We don't guarantee accuracy, reliability, or specific outcomes. AI responses may contain errors.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Buddy AI is not liable for any damages arising from use of the service, including reliance on AI advice.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms. We'll notify you of significant changes and your continued use constitutes acceptance.
